
What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?
The CDCP is a government-funded initiative that helps Canadians without private dental insurance access essential dental treatments.
Eligibility:

Canadian resident for tax purposes
-
No private dental insurance
-
Adjusted family net income under $90,000
-
Filed your most recent tax return
Coverage is based on income:

Under $70,000: 100% coverage
-
$70,000–$79,999: 60% coverage
-
$80,000–$89,999: 40% coverage

For examples of coverage and patient co-payments portion see FAQ section. Please note that even with 100% coverage this is applied to the fee guide and not the final balance. In most case a small balance is required by the patient -as per the CDCP.
What Does the CDCP Cover?
The CDCP covers a wide range of services, including:

Preventive Care: Exams, X-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments

Restorative Care: Fillings, pain management

Endodontics: Root canals

Periodontal Care: Gum disease treatment

Prosthodontics: Dentures and repairs

Oral Surgery: Extractions
-
Sedation & Anesthesia: For pain control
Cosmetic procedures and most orthodontics are not covered unless medically necessary.
How It Works at Alderlea Dental for the CDCP

Direct Billing – We bill Sun Life (the benefits Administrator for the CDCP) directly for covered services.

Preauthorization – For certain treatments, we handle the paperwork.
